1993-4-Paul ravenBorn 29th July 1970 in Salisbury, this defender joined the Albion in March 1989 from Doncaster Rovers for £150,000. Paul Raven started as an apprentice in July 1986 before signing professional forms for Doncaster in July 1988. “Raves” made 304 appearances including 10 as a substitute scoring 21 goals. Paul made his debut at right back in May 1989 away at Portsmouth. A stalwart central defender who showed good pace and formed solid defensive partnerships alongside Burgess, Mardon and Strodder. Paul played for England as a schoolboy in 1985.

He was part of our Wembley 1993 Play off winning side against Port Vale. He returned to Doncaster on a month’s loan in November 1991. In July 2000 he was granted a free transfer having served the Albion for over 10 years, also rewarded with a testimonial for his loyal service. Carlisle United he joined in 2002 followed by Barrow as player coach in 2004. Paul still lives in Doncaster and is employed by the PFA. He is a very loyal and supportive member of the Association, has been a regular attendee on match days either in the capacity of MC in the East Stand Hospitality areas or just relaxing in the Regis Suite, also supports our annual golf day and other former player events.
