Another successful trip to the West Wales coast to play for the Joe Brandrick Trophy. Again Aberdovey Golf Club proved a stern test of golf for the 10 members of the Association competing for the prestigious trophy presented by our friend and former club director Joe Brandrick.
The 2 day trip enables the golfers to get used to the Aberdovey wind before the serious competition takes place on the Tuesday, Monday we play a friendly 4 ball competition., well if you can call it friendly when you have ex professionals competing against each other!
The weather remained dry for most of the golfing time, though a strong wind in excess of 25mph accompanied us both days. The scores reflected the strength of the wind with 30 stableford points being the winning score.
Dave Butler came 3rd with 29 points, runner up was Joe Mayo with 30 and the winner being Kevin Summerfield again with 30 but he had a better back 9 which under the terms of golf competitions decides a winner in the case of a tie.
Those playing were: Joe Mayo, Nick Cross, Mark Grew, Kevin Summerfield, Ian Edwards, Dave Butler, Ray Wilson, Mick Fudge, Norman Westbury, Geoff Snape and our guests Endav Williams & Barrie Davies.
Our thanks go to Kevan Brandrick whose companies Brandrick Trucks, JC Payne & Otis Vehicle Rental sponsor the event.
