1972-73-Circa-Alan MerrickBorn 20th June 1950 in Selly Oak, Birmingham this defender joined the Albion in July 1966 signing professional forms in August 1967. Alan Merrick made 169 appearances including 13 as a substitute, scoring 5 goals.

He made his debut versus Peterborough in the 3rd round of the League Cup in September 1968 and was capped 3 times in the same year for England Youth. In September 1975 he went on loan to Peterborough followed by a move to Kidderminster and finally to the US where he made over 250 appearances for Minnesota Kicks, Los Angeles Aztecs, San Jose Earthquakes and Toronto Blizzard.

In 1983 he was capped by the USA when he played against Haiti. Upon retiring Alan took up coaching and was coach to Team America, Dallas and Maplewood.

Alan lives in Minnesota with his wife Mary and is mow Head Coach of University of Minnesota.
